About Somerset Kentucky:

Somerset Kentucky is quickly becoming the economic hub of South Central Kentucky. The Somerset KY area is attracting new industries and creating new jobs, which is tough in the current economic climate. Somerset itself is just north of Burnside which claims to be the only town on Lake Cumberland. Burnside and Somerset function as one quasi-urban system.


Somerset Kentucky is home to the well known Somernites cruise which is a large automotive event held in historic downtown Somerset every 4th Saturday during the summer. The economy of Somerset KY largely depends on tourism but is starting to diversify by adding jobs ranging from technology, courtesy of Valley Oak, to industry. As Somerset continues to solidify its position as a regional center of commerce, education and industry, the areas around Somerset are beginning to become part of a micropolitan area with a population of over 300,000. The Somerset infrastructure is rapidly changing to accomodate this change. Currently, there is more road construction in Pulaski County than any other county in Kentucky. Thanks to the pragmatic educational opportunities offered by Somerset Community College, the future looks very bright indeed.
